Easement Project Support SystemDescriptionThe Easement Project Support System allows various users distributed around the UK to keep track on project progress and costs. Employing a Web-based interface, project workers can log in and update Project details ranging from Responsible Parties through to individual Task Details and Costs. DesignThe system has been designed using a paper based template, so allowing users to add and update project details in a familiar format. Data CollectionThe main Project form is split into a number of sections to simplify data entry and maximise user familiarity. General Details:Details such as Project Title, Project Type, and Reference Details are recorded here. Responsible Parties:Each project employs a multidisciplinary team, and each party is identified from a selection of dropdown lists. Dates of instruction are also recorded and audited for reports and team reference. Tasks:Each task that is performed within the project is recorded along with related costs and disbursements. This has proved to be the most important section of the Project record as it allows Project members a way of identifying at what stage the project is and what costs have been incurred. Data Analysis/ReportingA variety of canned reports have been developed using either Microsoft Reporting Services for Internet based reporting or Microsoft Access for more complex reports. Each report is secured such that only certain users or user roles (Administrator, Consultant, etc.) are able to view/download them. In addition to canned reports an ODBC data connector has been implemented to allow ad-hoc reporting against the underlying Project Database. This connector can be used with applications such as Microsoft Office, SPSS and Microsoft Reporting Services for the analysis and reporting of data. HistoryOver time the system has been developed to meet the changing requirements of our customers. Each change goes through a process of development, testing and release, using an agile methodology.
